Banff / Lake Louise
Banff National Park is the flagship for the national parks program in Canada. Banff is located within the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta, which was signed in 1877, and encompasses the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, the Tsuut’ina First Nations, and the Stoney Nakoda Nations of Chiniki, Wesley and Bearspaw. The townsite was designated by railway workers in 1883, when they relaxed in the mineral-rich hot springs. Banff National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
