In the Water

Few things are as quintessentially summer as a day on the water. With a backyard full of lakes and direct access to the famous Athabasca River, there are lots of great opportunities to get out on the waves. The waters around Hinton are often warm enough for swimming in the summer. Some popular places to swim outdoors include Jarvis Lake and Kelley’s Bathtub.

In the Woods

There’s nothing quite like sleeping under the stars to really connect with nature. There are plenty of places to camp in the Hinton Northern Rockies region. Some favourite spots include Wildhorse Lake Campground and Jarvis Lake Campground in William A. Switzer Provincial Park and Kinky Lake Campground in Wildhorse Lake Provincial Recreation Area. For a luxury experience, book a stay at Rock Lake Earth Lodge and relax in a rustic mountain lodge with access to hiking, canoeing and kayaking, wildlife watching, swimming, and horseback adventures.
