The BC Rockies are known for epic adventures, mild weather, and rugged scenery. There is so much to explore! Here are some must-dos when travelling through the mountains!

Get Wild in Golden

Get up and close with wolves at the Northern Lights Wolf Centre and learn about these amazing creatures. Take a photography walk and get fantastic photos of wolves in the woods. Learn about buffalo at the Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch. Take a tour or disconnect and stay in a comfortable, rustic cabin.

Splash through the Water

Get up close and personal with the river water on a whitewater rafting tour! The BC Rockies have some of the best rivers with class I to Class IV rapids, sure to put a smile on your soaking wet face. Hydra River Guides has trips from mild to wild on the mighty Kicking Horse River. Their base is right on the river, so you spend less time travelling and more time on the water. Kootenay River Runners has something for everyone. Take a 2-hour run on the fast and fun Toby Creek, or spend a half or full day on the Kootneay River or Kicking Horse River with lots of rapids.

Learn to Climb

Rock climbing is a quintessential mountain activity, but you don’t need to tackle that cliff face on your first try! Learn the ropes with indoor climbing for all ages and abilities at Spirit Rock in Kimberley or the new Confluence Climbing in Golden. If you’re ready to try the real thing, check out the via ferrata at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. With fixed cables, a harness to hold you in, and an experienced guide, you’ll get a safe and fun climbing experience without any previous training.
