Oh Canada. It’s time to celebrate the birthday of this country and the mountain towns have events ready for locals and visitors alike. One thing to expect: it’ll be busy! Here’s what’s happening for Canada Day in the mountains.

Banff

Canada’s flagship national park is celebrating the day with a morning parade (the parade starts at 10 am with road closures starting at 9 am). The Canada Day Market will feature local artisans, produce, and tasty treats. Check out the Central Park Stage from 11 am to 6 pm and see magic, Beau Valley Circus, belly dancers, live music, and Blackfoot Medicine Speaks. Play in the Family Fun Zone with entertainment, games, and activities for kids. There will also be soccer-themed activities for kids at the Banff High School field. The Bear Street Chill Zone has treats and music all afternoon as well.

Canada Day in Banff will be busy. Plan ahead and take transit if you can. Parking lots will fill up early on this popular day!

Canmore

The town of Canmore knows how to party, and they’re ready to celebrate Canada Day in mountain style! Check out the 35^th Annual Fun Run & Walk. There are 3km, 5km, and 10km options. Signup is required, and proceeds support the Canmore Nordic Ski Club. The rotary Club of Canmore will be hosting their annual Canada Day Pancake Breakfast. Stop by for pancakes and sausage patties with freshly-brewed coffee! Bring your own plates, cups, and cutlery to help make this a zero-waste event. The main event is the parade: watch it on Main Street starting at noon! There are road closures in effect and the area will be busy, so make sure you’re prepared.

Jasper

Canada Day in Jasper is all about creating welcoming spaces, honouring Indigenous cultures, and celebrating community spirit. Enjoy a Pancake Breakfast at Commemoration Park along with Zumba. Check out the Flag Raising, the Canada Day Parade, and Entertainment in the Park, which includes artisan and food vendors, cultural demonstrations, live entertainment, activities for families, and a chance to come together with the community of Jasper. This is one celebration you won’t want to miss!
