Advice on Where Rockies Onlin

Let’s face it, life is expensive. With the rising costs of everything something like taking a vacation can be a huge financial commitment. We’re not going to tell you to not do the things you want to do during your stay, but we do have some suggestions on how to make them cost a little less. Here are six ways to save a buck in Banff.

1. Pack a Lunch

If you’re hiking, camping, or just spending the day around town, stop by the grocery store and get some simple things to make your own lunch. Banff has two great grocery stores with everything you need. Check out IGA or Nesters and get supplies to make sandwiches, or salads, or even grab something to go for lunch. You’ll save a few bucks, and you’ll have more time to get out and enjoy the day.

2. Find Free Programming

The Canada Strong Pass means Banff National Park is free again this summer. It also means that National Historic Sites are free as well. Check out the Cave & Basin or the Banff Park Museum for free entry to these incredible places. There is also free programming in town: Banff Centre often has free events (check out their schedule) and there is often free live music at the market on Wednesdays.

3. Ditch the Car

Parking in Banff is expensive, and the free lots fill up early. Take transit, ride your bike, or bring a good pair of shoes and tackle the town on foot. Many attractions also offer free shuttles. There are plenty of ways to get around that don’t require driving your vehicle and paying for gas. Plus, they allow you to take in the scenery instead of staring at the road.

4. Bring a Reusable Mug

We’re not going to tell you not to get that latte (because we’re not monsters) but we are going to suggest bringing a reusable mug or borrowing one from a free program like Banff Borrows. This will give you a small savings on your morning cup of Joe, which can add up over the course of your vacation. It also helps environment by reducing waste.

5. Dine on a Deal

We know you want to eat out at least once on your vacation, but there are ways you can do it affordably. Did you know we have an entire website dedicated to dining in the Canadian Rockies? We also have a page dedicated to deals in Banff! Check out what deals or specials are happening during your stay and enjoy some great restaurants with great discounts.

6. Check Out a Package

If you want to do several activities, there are packages to help you do everything at a discounted rate. The Pursuit Pass bundles several popular attractions, and it’s great if you’re travelling through Banff to other destinations like Jasper or Golden, BC. Discover Banff Tours also offers discount packages on many popular tours, so you get to see all the sights without paying all the cash.
