Every Thursday, the parking lot in front of Elevation Place comes alive. It’s market day, and whether you’re a local, a regular visitor, or a first-time tourist, the Canmore Mountain Market is an event you won’t want to miss.

Each week there are over 75 vendors selling everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to local and regional meats, jams, coffee, baking, and other delights. There are also crafts, clothing, jewellery, pottery, and art. With so many uniquely local things, you’re sure to find something special.

The vibe of the market is what makes it so special. It’s a true community farmer’s market with local goods, great food, and stunning mountain scenery. The market often features local live music, which is the perfect backdrop for a lunch or snack while admiring the views.

The market has been a summer tradition for over 25 years. It runs rain or shine, and no matter the weather, it’ll be busy with locals and visitors alike. Parking is always hectic during market days, so plan ahead or take transit. If you bike, there is free and accessible bike parking provided by Community Cruisers. They’re right at the market, so you can give them your bike, and get on with your shopping!

To honour Indigenous History Month in June, the market is hosting Stoney Nakoda vendors. Visitors are invited to explore and support Indigenous-owned businesses, connect with local makers, and celebrate the rich culture, traditions, and creativity of the Stoney Nakoda Nations.

The Canmore Mountain Market runs every Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm in the parking lot of Elevation Place. The market starts late May and runs through October. If you’re visiting Canmore, stop by and see what all the fuss is about. I’ll see you there.
